MacBook Pro Core i5 or Macbook Air Core i5?

I’m off to University in September, and I’ve made up my mind regarding a laptop – definitely going to be purchasing a Mac. The question is, I’m not really sure if I should get a Pro or the new Air that was released the other day. This laptop will not be my primary computer, I have a desktop that will be my primary computer, so the fact that the specs on the Air are not as good aren’t a huge factor, but definitely in my mind when determining best value for my money. I’m in Commerce, so it will be more Microsoft Office rather than Photoshop, Final Cut, etc.

What would you recommend for a business student?

For the long run, i would say go Pro.
You can change the battery, HDD, and RAM. You also get an optical drive which the Air doesn’t.
It also gives you more power in the future for updates and stuff.

The Air is cheaper overall, and has some of the same features, although i like it, it feels like a twig and i’m scared to damage it since the things i mentioned above are harder to replace.
It’s really good for everyday stuff, and if you don’t do stuff that require a lot of power.

So seeing what you said, i guess the Air would work best for you since you wont be doing heavy duty stuff. You’ll probably need to get a bigger hard drive or end up getting an external. Remember though you won’t have an optical drive for DVD’s and such.

    Hope this helps.
